We are a group of artists and theorists who are compelled by the use of different strategies in Czech contemporary art which engage the viewer and break through the walls of the Czech art scene. Our intention is to create new connections and structures which could widen the scope of the dialogue in contemporary art, art theory, and strengthen the connections between the Czech culture and the wider world. We want to establish a foundation for dialogue and in doing so encourage closer ties between artists and art theorists. Our project should also serve as a starting point for theoretic reflexes in contemporary Czech art, as well as for further connection to world events.

The blueprint for our project draws on myriad approaches to the presentation of contemporary art, and is structured as an amalgamation of numerous understandings of the problems faced by contemporary visual culture. Our effort is headquatered in a chamber space in which video works can be presented.

An key part of our project is the creation of a network foreign emissaries who, by virtue of their circumstance, can make possible a more intense exchange of work and experience between the Czech Republic and other countries. One of the most effective and convenient ways of achieving that goal is through the medium of video, a fact we aim to capitalize on. Another straightforward method of propagating contemporary artistic production is through the use of print, which – combined with other types of communication – makes breaking the conventions of the gallery possible.

As a part of our theoretical activities we plan to organize lectures that deal with the problems faced by artists, irregardless of media. In addition, we plan to print limited-edition texts that deal with visual culture, the presentation of foreign video art in the Czech Republic, and vice-versa. Our intention is to take the same bi-directional approach to future curatorial projects and other artistic works.
